KARACHI, Dec 1: Karachi University Registrar Prof Raees Alvi has said that the university administration has shifted nine examination centres of degree classes’ candidates to the campus. The decision, he told Dawn, had been taken keeping in view the hardship being faced by the students, particularly female, in reaching the centres and returning home. A notification, identifying the colleges and centres concerned, would be issued on Tuesday, he added.
He further stated that offices of the university administration would remain open although teaching activities on the campus were suspended for holding semester examinations.
Universities open
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that all the public and private sector universities in the city will remain open on Tuesday, adds APP.
The statement was issued by the Governor’s House on Monday evening. Meanwhile, the governor has established contacts with all political parties and groups in the city for the formation of peace committees at the lower level.
NED vacation
The NED University of Engineering and Technology has announced that the winter vacation will commence on December 3.
The registrar of the institution said on Monday that December 2 would be a working day for the faculty members.
Date extended
The Board of Secondary Education Karachi has extended the date for submission of SSC-I examination forms (Science and General groups) both for regular and private candidates without a late fee to December 17.
The forms can be submitted with a late fee of Rs200 up to December 31, Rs500 up to January 15, Rs1,000 up to January 31 and Rs1,500 up to February 14, according to an announcement made on Monday.
