Champions triumph in PLF

KARACHI, Nov 30: Defending champions Shahzad Mohammadan beat runner-up Usmanabad Union 4-2 in the KASB Premier League Football (PLF) match played at the CDGK Stadium on Saturday.

The winners got going in the sixth minute when their frontrunner Sohail Baloch gave a timely pass to right-winger Mohammad Yunus, who then beat opposing goalkeeper Yousuf Mansoori to send the ball into the goal from the right side. Then in the 25th minute striker Sohail Baloch converted fellow striker Asghar Baloch’s cross from the left to make the score 2-0.

Usmanabad Union got their break in the 30th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick as a result of foul tackling by an opposing defender inside the box. The opportunity was easily availed by Usmanabad’s striker Mohammad Ayaz.

The 37th minute brought the third goal for Shahzad Mohammadan, scored by right-winger Mohammad Yunus.

The second session saw Usmanabad’s strikers miss at least four good opportunities. Shahzad Mohammadan, meanwhile, scored their fourth goal in the 78th minute through their striker Asghar Baloch. Usmanabad’s second goal was also scored on a penalty kick, converted again by Mohammad Ayaz during the extra injury time. —Sports Reporter
