FAISALABAD, Nov 30: Chief Secretary Javed Mehmood has stressed the need to eliminate the role of middleman and patwari from revenue matters.

Mr Mehmood said this at a meeting of administrative secretaries of the Punjab government at the office of the Faisalabad commissioner on Sunday. He said revenue record must be updated instantaneously and all pending revenue cases should also be cleared without any delay. He said the commissioner should take action against corrupt patwaris.

The chief secretary directed a Board of Revenue member to submit his inspection report regarding the pending cases.

"I would meet the people visiting revenue offices to boost up the performance of the department," he said.

With this meeting, the six-day long tour of the chief secretary and secretaries of different departments to Faisalabad division ended and the army of secretaries moved back to Lahore on Sunday.

Also, Faisalabad Commissioner Zahid Saeed in a meeting with district coordination officers of Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh and Revenue Department officers directed them to provide him details of pending revenue cases.

He asked them not to rely on just one subordinate for the preparation of revenue cases but all officials must be well versed in the revenue laws.

He said all directions by the chief secretary would be followed and delinquent officers would have to face the music.

The commissioner said the chief secretary might also visit the division again after two weeks to have updates and inspections of different departments to whom he had given directions.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is also scheduled to visit the district on Monday (today). Mr Sharif will meet the divisional commissioner, police officers and will inspect the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Ismail Mosque Road and General Hospital Ghulam Mohammadabad.
