ISLAMABAD, Nov 27: A list of locals and foreigners has been provided to law enforcement agencies to investigate their status as the former was holding dual computerized national identity card while the latter has succeeded in obtaining it.

The sources told Dawn here on Thursday that the list containing about 2,000 names sent to passport cells, banks, leasing companies, financial institute, cellular companies and airports by the interior ministry with the approval of prime minister.

The departments were asked to inform the local police when the persons, whose name included in the list contact them for their services, the sources added. Further, Nadra marked the record of these persons with red pen.

Holding two CNIC card by an individual is a crime.

The sources said that strict action would be taken against those involved in this illegal practice of issuing CNIC to foreigners.

They said that FIA picked up eight officials of Nadra from Karachi some days back for their alleged involvement in this practice. However, the agency’s personnel failed to produce evidences against them, the sources added. —Staff Reporter
