Body exhumed to ascertain cause of death

MIRPURKHAS, Nov 27: A five-member medical board exhumed the body of a man from Nago Shah graveyard on Thursday in the presence of judicial magistrate, hundreds of relatives of the man and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional supporters.

The man reportedly died in police custody.

The medical board, headed by Dr Mohammad Saleem Memon, also conducted post-mortem and took samples from the body for laboratory tests.

Civil judge and judicial magistrate Mirpurkhas-II on an application by Mohammad Ismail Dal, a close relative of deceased Ahmed Khan Dal, had directed formation of the medical board.

Hundreds of people, including women and childern, demanded justice and ensure immediate arrest of the accused of a murder case lodged with the Old Mirpur police on the order of Sindh High Court.

Protesters raised slogans against police. The PML-F- backed Nazim Union Council Old Mirpur, Ghulam Mohammad Shah alias Babu Shah, told reporters that police officers were supporting their colleagues involved in the murder case, including inspector Mohammad Ayoub Dars, ASI Roshan Leghari, police personnel Nawaz Narejo, Ali Khan Narejo and Mohammad Qasim Narejo.

He said that Ahmed Khan Dal was killed and one of his legs was broken due to the torture as medical board took the pieces of bones of his leg and neck after exhuming his grave.

He lamented that the murder case lodged on the order of Sindh High Court was disposed in C class.

He said that the deceased was killed in Town police custody.
