HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association on Thursday challenged provincial ministers Pir Mazharul Haq, Ayaz Soomro and Ms Shazia Mari to a debate on a TV channel with SPLA leaders over the issue of ad hoc lecturers.

A meeting of the association, which was attended by the office-bearers of SPLA from Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur, warned that if any ad hoc lecturer was dismissed from service, the association would hold demonstrations in all district and divisional headquarters of the province.

The meeting claimed that the members of Sindh cabinet were misleading people on the issue of ad hoc lecturers and those who had passed a test conducted by the Sindh Public Service Commission.

The meeting directed the unit leaders

of all colleges of the province to send appeals to the president for regularising service of ad hoc lecturers like Punjab, NWFP and Balochistan.

It decided to hold a general body meeting in Hyderabad on Dec 18 to chalk out future course of action.
