The five-day gala had started on Nov 21 and was dedicated to the freedom fighter and native of Jaranwala Town, Bhagat Singh.
Famous Sufi singer Sain Zahoor enthralled the audience with his captivating performance which forced the people to accord him a standing ovation.
His ‘Allah Hoo’ and ‘Ki Janan Main Kaun O Bullah,’ drove the people to experience the excellence of spiritual folk music.
Meanwhile, People’s Rights Movement conducted a discussion on “National security state and Punjab” at the same venue while Communist Party of Pakistan held a dialogue on Bhagat Singh’s life and struggle.
The Lahore chapter of COMSATS staged a play entitled Sidq (truthfulness) depicting the struggle of Bhagat Singh. The students of Rose Model School, Faisalabad won the admiration of the audience when they staged a play – ‘Mandi’ (the market).
Punjab University Lahore’s group performed a beautiful parody on the poem “Ambi daay bootay thallay” (beneath the mango tree) of the legend Punjabi poet Prof Mohan Singh.
Asghar Husain Dardi of Sadiqabad and other ‘Dhol and Jhoomer’ groups performed at the open venue of the festival.
