KARACHI, Nov 25: Possession of the 10-acre land chosen for FIFA Goal Project II by Sindh Football Association (SFA) was formally handed over by the Lyari Development Authority (LDA) to Sindh’s Minister for Katchi Abadis and SFA’s Patron-in-Chief Rafique Engineer at his office in the Sindh Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
Thanking LDA’s Director Agha Masood after receiving the papers, Rafique Engineer said that it had been a long-awaited dream of the people of Karachi, especially Lyari, to see the project in their city.
“Initially, FIFA Goal Project I was intended for Karachi but it had to be moved to Lahore after the Government of Sindh failed to provide land for the project three years ago.
“Goal Project II also was in danger of being shifted from the city until the People’s Party government finally handed over the possession of SFA’s second choice at Hawkesbay, for which I will be eternally grateful to Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah,” he said on the occasion.
