Women’s hockey squad named

KARACHI, Nov 25: The Pakistan Hockey Federation announced an 18-member women squad for the Junior Asia Cup after one-day trials at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Tuesday.

Full-back Sehrish Ghumman will lead the team while Nadia Kazim will be her deputy.

The Women’s Asia Cup will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Dec 13 to 21 and the Pakistan squad will leave for the event on Dec 10.

Chief selector Hasan Sardar announced the names of players after watching the trials with selection committee members — Khalid Bashir, Farhat Khan and Rana M. Shafique.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Rizwana Yasmeen, Imrana Khan.

Full-backs: Sehrish Ghumman (captain), Nadia Kazim (vice captain), Zaib-un-Nisa.

Half-backs: Munazza Irum, Zakia Nawaz, Shahida Ghulam, Asma Ashraf, Nain Tara, Mumtaz Malik.

Forwards: Hina Kanwal, Nazia Rehmat, Muqaddas Akbar, Gulshan Tahira, Ayesha Bashir, Bushra Nazir, Saman Islam.

Standbys: Bismillah, Saira Saeed, Sana Gulzaman, Ayesha Rafiq, Rozina, Madiha Manzoor.
