JACOBABAD, Nov 25: People of Jacobabad experienced 12 hours of electricity loadshedding from 6am to 6pm here on Tuesday.

Hesco executive engineer when contacted said that power supply would remain suspended in the city for three days as work on the transmission line was being carried out at the Bypass Road Jacobabad.

Unannounced and unexpected loadshedding has paralysed business and civic life. Patients in hospitals and old-and-sick at home suffered a lot with operations in hospitals postponed. Loadshedding also affected supply of drinking water.

Our Sukkur correspondent adds: People of Sukkur and its adjoining areas once again endured long hours of unannounced loadshedding by Hesco.

Unannounced loadshedding began from Monday and was continuing with intervals till the filing of this report.

Students, shopkeepers, traders, industrialists and others suffered badly due to power outages for long periods, especially in the night.

Peasants were complaining that they were under double-trouble as due to non-availability of sufficient water in River Indus and canals they had to depend on tube-wells, while power outages had now left their farm land at the mercy of Hesco. They apprehended that they may not achieve wheat cultivation target because of water dearth.

They demanded of the government to ensure uninterrupted power supply for irrigation of land.

An official at local grid station when contacted said that the loadshedding was being done by the regional control centre Hyderabad.
