Robbers, thieves strike at seven places

RAWALPINDI, Nov 24: Robbers and thieves struck at seven different palaces in the city and its suburbs and made off with more than Rs200,000 three vehicles and gold jewelry in the last 24 hours.

Three unidentified gunmen forced into a house located in the airport police area and snatched Rs200,000, eight tolas of gold jewelry and other valuables and escaped.

Shahid Afzal, another robbery victim, told the RA Bazar police that two unidentified gunmen entered his house and took his family at gunpoint.

He said the robbers took away cash, gold ornaments weighing 15 tolas and two cell phones.

Tanveer Ahmad was robbed of Rs85,000 by a gang of highwaymen who blocked the Kalar Syedan Road in the wee hours of Monday and also snatched valuables from other motorists.

The highwaymen also shot and injured one of their victims Fida Shah and later disappeared.

Some unidentified burglars broke into the house of Shahid Tahir at Westridge in the absence of family and took away Rs8,500 and $150. Muhammad Farooq’s car was stolen from the RA Bazar, Shahid Naseer’s carry van was taken away by thieves from Wah Cantonment, while Muhammad Sohail’s motorbike was stolen from Dhoke Matkal.
