PESHAWAR, May 11: Dr Inayat Roghani, associate professor and in-charge of the radiology section in Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), has returned home after remaining in captivity of the kidnappers for 52 days.
Talking to newsmen at the residence of Dr Inayat Roghani in Hayatabad, provincial health minister Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, who is the sister of Dr Inayat, said on Friday evening that her brother was set free by unidentified kidnappers in Hayatabad area late on Thursday night.
Dr Inayat was kidnapped by five unknown armed men when he was on his way home on March 20 after finishing his private practice at the HMC in the evening, she said.
She said Dr Inayat was kept at unknown places as he was kidnapped in the car blind-folded from Hayatabad and freed in the same fashion.
Refusing to allow mediamen to meet Dr Inayat on the excuse that he was sleeping, Dr Mehr Taj Roghani denied that any ransom was paid for the release of her brother.
But independent sources divulged that Roghani family paid Rs3 million as ransom to the kidnappers for the release of the doctor. They said that the kidnappers had also a demand to release three persons including one Ashraf, reportedly brother of one of the kidnappers, from the cell of political administration of Khyber Agency.
