KARACHI, Nov 22: Hosts Sindh virtually ruled the waves by picking up 11 of the total 12 gold medals that were decided on the second day of the three-day 15th National Boys Age Group Swimming and Water Polo Championships at the PNS Karsaz pool on Saturday.

The Sindh swimmers whose domination was so intact that they didn’t allow opponents any breakthrough by claiming all the 14 gold medals at stake on Friday produced another shining performance returning with 11-9-1 medals.

At the end of penultimate day they are way ahead of rivals with a tally of 25 gold, 19 silver and four bronze medals.

Mazhar Naqvi, a junior international, set two new marks in 200m freestyle and 200m butterfly in Under-16 category as he added three gold, one silver and one bronze to his tally of two gold and two silver medals.

Mazhar’s contemporary Anique Anwar claimed two gold and three silver medals besides shattering the existing record of Individual Medley.

Sindh’s Faiz Khalil and Salar performed outstandingly in Under-14 while Hamza and Bilal Qasim excelled in Under-12.

The only gold that slipped from Sindh’s hand was in 50m butterfly which was won by Islamabad’s Khizer.

Sindh takes on Punjab in the Water polo final on Sunday.

Meanwhile, parents telephoned Dawn to register their complaints against organisers for hosting the event in windy conditions.

“Despite dominating the event our swimmers are unable to deliver their best,” they said.

The parents also objected for dropping the Under-18 event from the meet.
