PML-Q CEC meets today

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: The two factions of The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) would pursue their own agenda when Central Executive Committee (CEC) meets here on Saturday.

The group led by Hamid Nasir Chattha wants to discuss and constitute special committee of party ‘elders’ to supervise future party elections as well as provide guidance aimed at wooing the estranged MPs back to the party fold.

The group led by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi is however determined not to allow formation of any committee in presence of the CEC and CWC and would seek support of the participants for the actions the party leadership has taken so far.

It is also expected that the majority of the CEC members may ask Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to take all the issues in his hands and hold party elections by making sure that his cousin and former Punjab chief minister would not be a candidate for the top party office.

Earlier on Thursday the Chattha-led group refused to accept the list of 45 members presented by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s emissary with the request to Chattha to strike down the names which were not acceptable to him.

Mr Chattha returned the list, saying his group would make sure that the genuine members were sifted from the ‘special invitees’ at the meeting.

The list of 30 members of the CEC released by Chattha group includes, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Gohar Ayub Khan, Salim Saifullah Khan, Ijazul Haq, Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi, Amir Muqam, Jam Yusuf, Arbab Ghulam Rahim Khan, Mian Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, Humayun Akhtar Khan, S.M.Zafar, Akram Zaki, Nisar Muhammad Khan, Awais Leghari, Jan Muhammad Jamali, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Jaffer Mandokhel, Iqbal Dar and others.
