MIRPURKHAS, Nov 21: Two men were killed in an armed attack by their rivals in Ghazi Khan Panhwar village near Slaughter House in the jurisdiction of the Satellite Town police here on Thursday night.
Armed assailants in a vehicle reached the village and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result Shahnawaz Panhwar was killed on the spot and his cousin Abdul Salam Panhwar received bullet injuries.
They were taken to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital from where Abdul Salam, was referred to a Hyderabad hospital after being providing first aid. However, he died before reaching Hyderabad.
The assailants tried to kidnap some women but could not do so owing to arrival of neighbours.
Later, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot and set up there police pickets.
Reports said that Zahid Panhwar, the cousin of the deceased, had married a girl of Khaskheli community about two months ago, which had created enmity between the members of Panhwar and Khaskheli communities.
On Friday, Mohammad Sachal Panhwar, father of one of the deceased, lodged a double murder case under section 302, 379, 109, 47, 48 and 49 of the PPC with Satellite Town police against Shahnawaz Khaskheli, Qalandar Bux Khaskheli, Rab Nawaz Khaskheli and two unidentified men.
Dozens of members of Panhwar community blocked the Umerkot-Mirpurkhas road in protest as a result vehicular traffic was suspended.—Correspondent
