LAHORE, Nov 20: The Trade Union Action Committee and National Trade Union Federation have rejected the new Industrial Relations Act adopted by the National Assembly.
The act was rejected during a meeting of the two trade union bodies held here on Thursday with Yousaf Baloch in chair.
The participants were of the view that the act was aimed at protecting the rights of the employers and was more anti-worker than the Industrial Relations Ordinance promulgated by General Pervez Musharraf.
They said that the PPP government had not bothered to convene the tripartite labour conference for the formulation of the act in consultation with the stakeholders.
Trade union rights had been further restricted and registration of new trade unions had been made more difficult under the new law.
