MIANWALI, Nov 20: The principal of the Government Degree College for Boys, Mianwali, received a threatening letter on Thursday which created panic in educational institutions in the district.

Reports said principal Mian Muhammad Ashraf received a letter containing threats to close the college and its hostel within a week or get ready for dire consequences.

The terror monger wrote: “I am a disciple of a leader who is shown on TV and have come to Mianwali from Bannu.”

The principal informed the law-enforcement agencies about the contents of the letter after which a number of police vehicles were seen around the college.

Talking to Dawn, District Police Officer Malik Tassaddaq Hayat said: “Whether this letter is original or a joke, we took it seriously and deputed our force around the college in uniform and in plainclothes.”

TERMINATION: District Coordination Officer Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry on Thursday terminated from service a patwari, forfeited five-year service of a gardawar and one-year service of naib tehsildar for fraudulently transferring the land of a widow.

Reports said a Daudkhel influential, Haq Nawaz, forcibly occupied four-marla plot of widow Safia Begum and got it transferred in his name with the connivance of the revenue department.

The widow got registered a case against Haq Nawaz with the Daudkhel police which arrested the accused. The widow appeared before the DCO and informed him about the matter. DO (revenue) Khuram Shehzad conducted a probe and found guilty patwari Maqbool Ahmed, gardawar Ghazanfar Ali and naib tehsildar Atta Muhammad.

The DCO under Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Act 2002 awarded punishments to all the three revenue officials for fraudulently transferring the plot.
