Protest against land grabbing

DADU, Nov 17: Women and children observed token hunger strike out side press club here on Monday to protest against an influential man of the area and police officials for occupying 100 acres of land in Bouk village of Dadu Taluka.

The affected women, Iddat Bouk, Subhan, Shamshad, Amir, Khatoon, Sughran, children Reshman 4, Khushboo 3, Rahib 1, Usman 2, and Ghulam Hussain 2, observed a hunger strike.

Ms Iddat told that feudal of the area Ali Gohar Bouk, Wazir Bouk, Qasim Lakho and Aleem Lakho had occupied 100 acres of land in Bouk village.

She said that heavy contingent of Dadu police station along with influential people of the area raided their homes and exerted pressure on women to sign the land ownership documents to transfer the property to them.

She said that police threatened them of dire consequences if they did not sign the land documents.

Ms Subhan said that police had tortured women and children during the raid and warned that if justice was not dispensed to her, she would commit suicide.
