LAHORE, Nov 16: The three-day National Immunisation Campaign against polio will be launched from Nov 24 to administer anti-polio vaccine drops with Vitamin A supplementation to children up to five years of age.

The health department has finalised arrangements to immunise over 15.8 million children in the province with the assistance of Pakistan Academy of Family Physicians and Pakistan Paediatric Association.

Disclosing this while presiding over a meeting held here on Sunday to review campaign’s arrangements, Health Director-General Dr. Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry said that 38,000 mobile teams had been formed to administer drops and vitamins to children below five years of age.

Similarly, he said, special monitoring teams had also been formed to keep an eye on the working of mobile teams.

Polio vaccination facility had also been provided at all hospitals and medical centres of the province.

He called upon parents, social and community workers and other segments of society to cooperate with mobile teams and officials of the health department to make the campaign a success.
