TAUNSA SHARIF, Nov 16: Sugarcane farmers have urged the government to direct the mills to start crushing without any delay.
The crushing season normally starts in October each year across the country under the Sugarcane Act but this year the delay in finalizing the support price by the government is hurting the growers.
Meanwhile, a rally was taken out at Daira Din Panah on Sunday which urged the government to fix the cane rate at Rs 150 per 40kg.
The speakers said that at least 100kg cane is deducted from each lot of 2,000 kg without any justification while there was no regular and proper mechanism for in-time unloading of the cane from tractor trolleys.-—APP
