ATTOCK, Nov 15: Only 102 candidates including a female could pass the written test for appointment as police constables against 219 posts, it has been learnt.

The district police recruitment committee had declared about 350 candidates eligible for the written test after conducting a chest/height measurements and endurance test.

However, 248 of them could not get through the written test. As a result, 117 posts including nine for women still remain vacant.

The unsuccessful candidates said the standard of the written test was higher than the matric level which was set as a minimum qualification for the posts. Meanwhile, sources disclosed that 25 candidates had been disqualified from the written test by the DPRC as their chests/heights measured less. Surprisingly, they had earlier been declared fit for the written test.

When contacted, chairman of the DPRC SSP Suhail Khan said recruitment on the remaining 117 posts would be conducted later subject to approval by the Central Police Office. He said interviews of the candidates passed in the written test would be taken on Monday. The final list of successful candidates will be displayed the same day, he added.
