LARKANA, Nov 13: The Larkana circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday gave three days time to Sukkur RPO Mohammed Ramzan Channa to recover four children kidnapped from their house in Madina Colony, Sukkur, on a petition filed by the hostages’ mother.
The petitioner Asmat Jehan accused Sadhuja DSP Shahjehan Shah of aiding the kidnappers in locating her house. The RPO said that if her allegations proved true stern action would be taken against him in accordance with law.
The petitioner said that she had got divorce through court from Jhangal alias Gul Chachar after 17 years of marriage and also managed to get custody of two children.
After getting divorce, she had filed a petition with the third additional district judge of Sukkur seeking guardianship of children and the court had ordered Jhangal to hand over the children to the petitioner but he did not comply with court orders and refused to hand over children.
On Oct 10 DSP Shahjehan Shah produced two children, Ali Abbas, 15, and Muzzamil Hussain, 14, in the court district judge after she filed a contempt application but Jhangal did not appear.
The court asked the DSP to recover the remaining two minors, Tuba, 12, and Neba, 8, and directed him to escort the petitioner and her children up to their house under police protection.
The DSP gave a lift to Mohammed Yousuf Chachar and Ali Nawaz Chachar, relatives of Jhangal, in the van, which was carrying them to their house and let them see the house where she was residing with her sister, she said.
On Oct 13, four people armed with lethal weapons broke into the house and forcibly kidnapped her children, she said.
She lodged an FIR at Dari police station but the SHO and Larkana DPO whom she had approached for help did nothing to recover her children. She said that her former husband was a criminal person with whom the life and future of her children was at stake. The DSP not only let her husband’s men see her house but also threatened her to withdraw the case, the petitioner said.
She requested the court to direct the RPO of Sukkur and DPO of Larkana to take legal action against Jhangal, Ali Nawaz, Mooso, Qasim and Hazaro Chachar and provide protection to life and liberty of the petitioner, her children and other family members.
The petition was heard by Justice Zaffar Ahmed Khan Sherwani when Azizul Haq Solangi, assistant additional advocate general along with RPO of Sukkur, SP investigation Larkana, DSP Legal Larkana, DSP Sadhuja and other police officers appeared in court. Ghulam Rasool Soomro represented the petitioner.
The petitioner agreed to send her mother with a police team that would visit the place of confinement as indicated by the petitioner and her mother.
The case was adjourned to Nov 17.
