UMERKOT, Nov 12: The district and sessions judge set at liberty 12 peasants who were recently recovered from the illegal confinement of a landlord.
The freed peasants included five women and three children who were recovered from illegal confinement at the farm of Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah near Samaro four days ago and produced by the Samaro police before the sessions judge who freed them.
The peasants included Humera, Sonbai, Dur Mohammad, Bai, Shano, Sabhai, Wallai, Gul Mohammad, Ali Gul and Atta Mohammad.
Ms Zeenat told journalists outside the court that they had been working at the agriculture land of Shah for the last 16 years. She alleged that they were denied their share of crops for the last five years and on demanding the share, the landlord used to hurl threats of dire consequences to them.
She alleged that one of their family members Atta was missing since the day they were recovered by Samaro police and feared that he might be in the custody of the landlord.
PROTEST: Members of the All Pakistan Scheduled Caste Forum took out a rally and staged a demonstration here on Wednesday to protest against alleged detention of 78 peasants by a landlord in the Nauabad area of Sanghar district.
The rally was taken out from Gaju Rana roundabout and culminated at the local press club, where the protesters carrying banners and placards raised slogans against landlord Thakur Nazeer Ahmed Qaimkhani and demanded release of the peasants allegedly kidnapped and detained by the landlord.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangharam advocate and Dr Purkhomal said that a large number of private prisons were operating in Sanghar district. They demanded appointment of DPO to investigate the matter.
ROBBERY: A cattle trader Chando Mal was deprived of cash and motorcycle and also thrashed near Sunji Mori here on Wednesday.
As Chando Mal was going to Samaro from Aarharo Bhurgari village on a motorcycle, three armed men intercepted him at Sunji Mori and deprived him of Rs40,000 and the motorcycle.
