ISLAMABAD, Nov 12: Over 100 under-trial prisoners brought to the district and sessions courts here staged a protest demonstration against manhandling of their fellows and police refusal to allow them to meet their family members on Wednesday.

The prisoners chanted slogans against the police officials deployed to guard them for manhandling two murder accused.

Sources said the prisoners also accused the police officials of taking bribe in return for allowing their relatives to meet them, adding most of the time the police did not allow them to talk and meet their loved ones.

The police officials manhandled the accused when they argued with the policemen over their refusal to let them meet their relatives.

The uniformed personnel thrashed and injured the accused and later dragged them into the Bukshi Khana. As a result, the prisoners suffered bruises and injuries.

On the other hand, the police said the incident took place when the two accused were taken to Bakshi Khan from the court of additional sessions judge.
