HYDERABAD, Nov 12: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that the district government will continue to dispatch relief goods to the quake- hit people of Balochistan till their rehabilitation.
He was speaking at a ceremony at his secretariat at the time of the departure of 12 trucks loaded with relief goods here on Wednesday. This was the second consignment which has been dispatched by the district government for the quake-hit people.
He said that an amount of Rs5 million had been spent on the purchase of relief goods which included blankets, quilts, tents, medicines and edibles. He said those who had cooperated in the purchase of relief goods included Fateh Group of Industries, Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hilal-e-Ahmer and others.
He said on the request of Relief Commissioner Balochistan, a ten-member team of doctors and paramedical staff was also being sent to Balochistan to provide medical assistance to the earthquake victims. The district government will continue to send relief goods and medical teams till the normalisation of situation, Kanwar Naveed Jamil said.
FILTER PLANT: Under the directives of the district nazim, three water filter plants were installed in the Hyderabad Rural taluka and one in City taluka on Tuesday. These plants have been purchased at a cost of Rs3 million.
According to a spokesman for the district government, one water filter plant was installed at Mori Nazar, second at Bhawal Zounr, UC Tando Hyder and the third at Muzaffarabad primary school, UC Tandojam. In the city taluka, the so-safe water filter plant was installed at Hala Naka Bohra Jamat Khana.
