KRC polls on Dec 15

KARACHI, Nov 11: The Karachi Race Club (KRC), which is of late is being ruled by the nominees appointed by the Sindh Home department since last five years, will go to polls when the 22nd Annual General Body Meeting takes place at the club premises on Dec 15.

According to notice issued last Sunday bearing signature of the incumbent administrator, Haji Khuda Bux Rajar, the AGM will elect a president and nine members of the managing committee who will pick a chairman from amongst themselves.

The meeting, among other matters, will appoint auditor of the club for the 2009-10 period for carrying out yearly audit.

After the elections, the post of administrator and the eight-member Racing Committee will cease to exist.

The Racing Committee, which was constituted in February, includes Aqeel Karim Dhedhi (president), Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashdi (chairman), Kamal Farooq, Ahmed Chinoy, Haji Javed, Gul Mohammad Rajar, Irfan Mehdi and Tajamul H. Mirza (members).

There are some 150 life members and 280 ordinary members who will cast their votes to elect office-bearers for a year term. The members have been asked to clear their dues latest by Nov 30.

Fakir Syed Aitzazuddin was appointed KRC administrator on Nov 4, 2003 by the Sindh Home department. He was succeeded by the current administrator who took over on Feb 13, 2008.

It may be mentioned that the Sindh government intervenes whenever crisis occurs and appoints an administrator to run the affairs.
