KHAR, Nov 11: At least seven militants were killed when troops pounded their hideouts in Mamond and Nawagai tehsils with artillery on Tuesday.

Military sources claimed having destroyed several Taliban hideouts.

The political administration arrested eight people for their suspected links with Taliban.

Local people, meanwhile, said that a large number of Afghan refugees had left for their country after the administration asked them to leave the area by Wednesday.

Elders of the Yousafkhel and Barang tribes of Lowi Mamond held jirgas with the administration in Khar and Nawagai’s assistant political agent Mohammad Jamil said the tribes had to take action against militants.

The tribes decided to form lashkars and asked the administration to give them list of suspected militants.
