Amjad clears first hurdle

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Pakistan’s Amjad Khan defeated compatriot Shahzad Khan in straight games in the qualifying round of the Pakistan Open squash championship at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Sunday.

Amjad took just 18 minutes to thrash Shahzad 11-6, 11-7, 11-3.

In another match, Malaysia’s M. Asyraf Azan defeated Pakistan’s Naseem Khan 11-8, 16-14, 4-11, 10-12, 11-5 in the 45-minute encounter.

In the girls’ event, Gul Zaman of Pakistan outclassed compatriot Amna Latif 11-0, 11-0, 11-5 in only 11 minutes.
