Two die in accidents

ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Two persons were killed and 17 injured in different accidents at various areas of the city here on Sunday, police said.

In the first accident, a man was killed and 17 injured when an overcrowded passenger wagon overturned due to speeding on the GT Road near Tarnol toll plaza.

The police said the wagon was on its way to Wah Cantonment from Rawalpindi and when it reached the toll plaza, the driver lost control over the vehicle.

One of the passengers Mohammad Sultan, naib-qasid in the Capital Development Authority, died on the spot. His body was shifted to the hospital. The injured suffered minor injuries, including bruises and cuts, and are stated to be in stable condition.

In another incident, an unidentified man was killed after being run over by a train at Tarnol.The incident came to light when some passersby informed the police that a mutilated body was laying on a railway track. The police reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital for legal process.

The deceased said to be in his 40s is yet to be identified. The police said there was a possibility that he was crushed under the wheels of the train while crossing the railway track.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Arshad’s car was stolen from the parking area of the Capital Development Authority and Abdul Hamid’s motorcycle from parking area of the Quaid-i-Azam University.
