Robbers kill real estate agent

LAHORE, Nov 8: Robbers shot dead a real estate agent and injured three others, including an advocate, during two separate incidents in Shahdara and Lytton Road areas on Saturday.

Mian Dawood, 32, was going along with his friend, Hafeez, after withdrawing Rs80,000 from a bank when two armed motorcyclists stopped them on Eidgah Road and demanded cash.

On resistance, the robbers opened fire as a result of which the two friends and the owner of a nearby shop, Ishaq, sustained bullet injuries. The outlaws made off with the cash.

The firing created a panic among passersby and the shopkeepers who saved their lives by running or taking a shelter.

The injured persons were taken to Mayo Hospital where Dawood succumbed to his injuries.

In another incident, advocate Rana Farhan Ali and his friend, Tariq Siddique, were on their way after withdrawing Rs400,000 from a Riwaz Garden bank when near Aryanagar Chowk on Poonch Road, two motorcyclists stopped their car and fired a bullet on its windscreen.

The robbers opened fire on Farhan when he resisted and escaped from the scene.

The injured man was taken to Surraya Azeem Hospital from where he was referred to Ganga Ram Hospital.

Lytton Road police have registered a case.

Three robbers, including a woman, barged into the house of Muhammad Abbas in Shadbagh and took away jewellery worth Rs840,000.

Three robbers entered Muhammad Arshad’s place in Misri Shah and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs1.2 million.

Two robbers stormed into the shop of Umer in Green Town and looted Rs19,000 in cash and three cell phones.

Asif was standing at his doorstep in Green Town when two robbers snatched his cell phone at gunpoint.

Factory fire: An owner of a plastic factory sustained burn wounds and his two employees fainted in a fire incident near Double-Sarkan Stop in Gulshan-i-Ravi on Saturday morning.

A Rescue 1122 official said the fire broke out in the factory of Khwaja Sajid Waseem owing to a short-circuit.

He said the owner, who trapped in the fire, suffered critical burns and was taken to Mayo Hospital.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control after some time.

An Edhi official said two factory employees, yet to be identified, also fainted in the fire.

In another incident, valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were gutted when a fire erupted in the hardware shop of Sarfraz Husain near Pulli Stop in Green Town early on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 firefighters said the shop caught fire owing to a short-circuit.

Poisonous liquor: A middle-aged man died at Services Hospital shortly after he consumed poisonous liquor at Canal Park in Gulberg early on Saturday.

Imran Masih had consumed excessive liquor during a marriage ceremony.

ACCIDENTS: Two unidentified persons were killed when their motorcycle rammed into a crane parked on GT Road in Kahna on Saturday.
