LAHORE, Nov 6: Army overpowered Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 2-0 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match played at Rawalpindi’s Army Stadium on Thursday.
Army’s two goals were scored by their left winger Mohammad Imran and striker Imran Hussain.
The clash between the two former national champions saw the first goal happening in the 23rd minute when Shabbir Hussain made good use of a corner with a powerful drive into the area and Mohammad Imran slotted the ball past keeper Aqeel Ahmed.
It was Imran’s first goal of the event.
HBL missed out on a great chance when the ball was played into the space on the left and their striker Jamil Idrees had time to pick his spot with only the keeper to beat, but the shot went high and wide. Army led 1-0 at interval.
Army’s second goal came in the final minute of the game when Imran Hussain’s long-range free kick that curled inside was completely misjudged by the goalkeeper. It was Imran Hussain’s seventh goal of the event.
