LAHORE, Nov 5: Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) saw the completion of three more matches in Punjab with Punjab Medical College (PMC) edging out Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in a 4-3 thriller, Wapda beating Afghan FC 1-0 and Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) pulling a 1-1 draw with Pak Elektron Limited (PEL).

PEL kept their unbeaten record at Lahore’s Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) Ground with a 1-1 draw.

PEL went ahead in the 32nd minute when right winger Mohammad Asif cut the ball across the area for midfielder Rashid to do the rest but the ball went into midfielder Javed Hamza’s hands who mistimed the interception. Referee Shahid Rashid pointed to the spot and Mohammad Rashid slotted the ball past keeper Umar Farooq.

The match’s 40th minute gave rise to controversy when Shahid had to change his decision several times before awarding KESC the equaliser. It was an immensely powerful drive from Hamza who made amends to make it 1-1, giving keeper Ahmed Shahzad no chance at blocking it.

PEL disputed the decision but finally had to crumble under the referee’s verdict. It was 1-1 at interval with no more goals being scored in the second session.

PMC managed a thrilling 4-3 triumph over KPT at the PMC Ground, Faisalabad.

The Faisalabad outfit were happily placed 3-1 at interval. Tanveer-ul-Hasnain broke the ice in the 7th minute and added his second in the 34th minute. In between Mohammad Asif registered a 15th minute goal for the winners. KPT’s first half scorer was Naseer Ahmed in the 21st minute.

KPT fought back in the early part of the second session to bring the match to a 3-3 score line. Winger Zafar Majeed made it 3-2 in the 47th minute while Faraz slotted KPT’s third in the 58th minute to make it 3-3. The all-important winner emerged in the 90th minute when Muzammil Hussain faked his way in for a dazzling goal, giving PMC their fifth win.

Meanwhile, despite scrappy display, Wapda managed a vital 1-0 win over Afghan FC at the Railway Stadium.—Agencies
