NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 5: The district administration swung into action and demolished six shops, one katcha house and a small park constructed at the playground of historical Government Madressah and High School here on Wednesday morning.

This historical school with a sprawling playground measuring more than ten acre, had been in regular use of students for different sports activities.

A portion of the school ground was encroached upon by a man in connivance with the revenue officials. He constructed katcha rooms and later started to dispose them of which shocked the residents of this town.

The matter was taken up by the grandson of the founder of the school, Syed Zafar Ali Shah MNA, along with old students who approached the then governments as well as district administration but failed to get any proper response.

To justify occupation of the playground land, fictitious ownership documents were also prepared in the name of one Muharram Loond who constructed six shops and a kutcha house there.

To force the administration to move against the encroachers, Syed Zafar Ali Shah along with naib nazim of UC Naushahro Feroze, Dr Abdul Qadeer Memon, and a number of old students took out rallies and staged demonstrations.

The matter came in the limelight after the People’s government came into power and Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Dr Ahmed Ali Shah took up this matter with the Sindh government and succeeded in securing orders for removal of encroachment.

The DCO of Naushahro Feroze, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, told this correspondent on Tuesday night that the problem was genuine and “he had sought cooperation of the general secretary of lawyers forum Abdul Salam Luhrani in vacating the occupied shop which were rented out mostly to the lawyers .

The lawyers, as per commitment, vacated the shops on late Tuesday night and the encroachment on school ground was demolished on Wednesday morning.

The government madressah and high school of Naushahro Feroze was established in 1893 by Khan Bahadur Syed Allahando Shah of Darbelo.
