QUETTA, Nov 4: Activists of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) held demonstrations in Quetta and several district headquarters of Balochistan on Tuesday in protest against the murder of party leader Zahid Hussain Baloch in Karachi.

In Quetta, BNP-M activists gathered outside the press club and raised slogans against the government.

They called for the arrest of elements behind the murder.

Addressing the protesters, BNP-M secretary-general Habib Jalib Baloch accused intelligence agencies of being behind attacks on their leaders.

He said the agencies wanted to harass party workers and sympathisers.

Mr Baloch criticised the government for giving a free hand to intelligence agencies and warned that if the government failed to rein in the agencies, the law and order situation would worsen in Balochistan.

Mr Baloch said his party believed in political struggle and its workers could not be subdued by cowardly acts.

He said the BNP-M was struggling for the rights of Baloch people under the leadership of Sardar Ataullah Khan Mengal.
