GUJRAT, Nov 4: Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir Liaquat Baloch on Tuesday accused Pakistan People’s Party of siding with the civil and military bureaucracy which is always afraid of an independent judiciary.

Talking to Dawn, Liaquat Baloch said the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) was damaging the parliament and the will of the public by not implementing the National Assembly resolution on tribal areas.

He said President Zardari was favouring the bureaucracy though he could reinstate the judges through an executive order.

He said America should not press Islamabad for intensifying military actions in

FATA areas after Washington itself had decided to hold a dialogue with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

He added only political dialogue could resolve issues.

He claimed the new CENTCOM chief Gen Petraeus had visited Islamabad for ensuring a more vigorous military action in tribal areas of the country.

He said the government and the army should support the elected members of the tribal areas who could be very helpful in bringing back peace to the troubled tribal belt.

Earlier, JI leaders attended funeral of a party fellow.
