DADU, Nov 3: Activists of the Sindh Peoples Hari Committee took out a rally here on Monday in protest against what they called ‘sale of jobs’ by some Pakistan People’s Party workers and government officials.
Protesters carrying portraits of late Benazir Bhutto and banners marched on different roads and raised slogans, demanding jobs on merit and accountability of local PPP leaders.
Protesters were led by Vice President, People Hari Committee Dadu Mohammad Ali Solangi, Secretary Hari Committee Dadu Ghulam Hussain Shaikh and Secretary PPP UC Moundar, Ghulam Rasool Nizamani.
Ghulam Rasool Nizamani claimed that he was a senior party worker and got injured in leg during Karsaz bomb blast.
He said that his wife stood 15th in the merit list of the test she appeared for the post of teachers held by the IBA but had been denied job while many without merit were appointed.
He alleged that a local PPP office bearer was selling the jobs.
He appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari to resolve this problem and threatened to commit suicide if not.
Mohammad Ali Solangi alleged that corruption was witnessed in recruitment in different departments.
Ghulam Rasool Sheikh said that he was a Graduate and had appeared in all tests for jobs but always neglected. He said that he was poor and working in a resturant and the only bread-earner of the family of six.
Ghulam Hussain Shaikh said that they always remained loyal to the party. He said that he faced political victimisation during the PML-Q regime while now was also being neglected.
Later, they observed token hunger strike outside the press club.
Bahadur Solangi said that elected PPP leaders were not ready to meet him. He threatened to commit suicide outside the press club if he was not provided a job. Mohammad Urs Soomro Syed Aijaz Ali Shah also spoke on the occasion.
Disabled persons also observed token huger strike outside the press club demanding jobs according to two per cent quota for disabled.
Meanwhile, Residents of Johi staged a demonstration to protest against the Zamzama gas filed of the BHP for not accepting their demands.
Villagers gathered at the front gate of Zamzama gas field and staged demonstration for four hours for not providing them jobs and not carrying out development works in affected villages located close to the field. They were led by Wahid Bux Panhwar, Nooruddin Panhwar and Arz Mohammad Panhwar.
They said that local officials were not paying attention to basic problems of villagers located in the vicinity of Zamzama gas field. They said that officials were not paying land compensation. He said that local villagers were facing problems of drinking water, education, health and development schemes.
