MIRPURKHAS, May 10: The chief executive of Hesco, Brig Tariq Arshad, has said that within next six months, the work to lay new electricity line of 132KV from Sanghar to Mirpurkhas and 66KV from Digri to Naukot would be completed anf hoped that it would help minimize the power failure.
He was speaking at a ceremony held at the Hesco divisional office after inaugurating a customer service centre here on Friday.
He said that the purpose of setting up a customer centre was to provide facility to the Hesco consumers under one window operation, and redress their complaints.
He said that the application procedure for new connection would be made easy, and there would be no need for test report for domestic connections.
He warned that legal action would be taken against those found involved in power theft.
DROWNED: A youth, Abdul Razzaq (18), was drowned in Jamrao Canal here on Friday. His body was later moved to Civil Hospital.
NRSP: Aijaz Ahmed Qureshi, regional general manager of National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), announced on Friday that his organization has launched a programme to provide potable water to the scarcity-hit areas, and advised the villagers to contact the NRSP in this regard.
He was speaking at a workshop held at Kot Ghulam Muhammad town. He said that under this scheme, 30 ponds would be constructed, while about 200 hand pumps would be installed in the drought-hit areas including Kot Ghulam Muhammad, Mirwah, Digri, Jhuddo, Shadi Palli, Umerkot and Sufi Faqeer.
SUSPENDED: An assistant sub-inspector of Jhuddo police, Thakar Nanji, was suspended on public complaints here on Friday.
DPO: Mirpurkhas, Pir Muhammad Abbasi has ordered an inquiry into the ‘illegal’ arrest of Zafar and Aijaz Khaskheli by the police officer.
Buses without permit: Dozens of buses have been plying with out any permit at different routes in lower Sindh with the connivance of the Regional Transport Authority’s officers for last few years.
The office bearer of Mirpurkhas-Khipro Route Transport Association, Abdul Latif, told this scribe that there was no law for the transport due to corruption at the authority’s office. No action was taken against those who were plying transport illegally although the matter was brought into the notice of the authority concerned.
He claimed that a huge amount of bribe was taken to allow the illegal plying of transport.
He demanded of the governor of Sindh and the authority concerned to take strict action and order an impartial inquiry into the matter.
