GUJRANWALA, Oct 29: Two persons were killed and another four injured on Wednesday in a clash between two rival groups over a land dispute in Kali Soba, Wahando.
Reports said Meraj Din and Ali Ahmad quarrelled with each other over wheat growing on a disputed land. Later, men of the two groups traded fire that resulted in the instant death of Meraj Din and Shabbir. Ali Ahmad, Muhammad Malik and two brothers Rifaqat and Shafaqat sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital in a critical condition.
Bodies were shifted to THQ Hospital, Kamoki, for autopsy.
Wahando police have arrested eight men of both groups and are investigating.
SACKED: An examination centre superintendent and two deputy superintendents were sacked for negligence in intermediate supplementary examinations 2008 on Wednesday.
According to the controller examination, the Gujranwala BISE chairman Akram Chaudhry visited Mandi Bahauddin High School centre where he found a candidate, Mudassar Naeem Farooqi (Roll No 20074), solving his paper with the help of a book.
The chairman got arrested the candidate besides sacking the centre’s superintendent and his deputy.
He also visited Government High School No. 1, Jalalpur Jattan, and dismissed the deputy superintendent for absence from the duty.
BOYCOTT: The district bar association boycotted the court proceedings and celebrated the victory of Ali Ahmad Kurd here on Wednesday.
The lawyers, led by bar president Malik Shaukat Ali Awan, gathered in the barroom and celebrated the victory. Sweets were also distributed among the lawyers.
