HYDERABAD, Oct 28: Police remain clueless about the mysterious death of a youth, Naveed A. Shaikh, who was found dead on the seventh floor of the Al-Amna Plaza in the Cantonment area on Monday morning.

The two accused in the case, a girl Shagufta Ansari and a Jordanian, Mohammad, have been remanded to police custody for four days by the Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate-X, Hyderabad, here on Tuesday.

Shagufta and Mohammad have been nominated by deceased’s father, Bashir Ahmed Shaikh, in the FIR of the murder at the Makki Shah police station.

Officials of the investigation wing of police remained tight-lipped about the investigation of the case and did not share any information with media personnel.

Shagufta Ansari’s sister is staying with her at the police lock-up and her brother, Shoaib Ansari, and would-be brother-in-law, Shahzad Leghari, were also being interrogated in the case.

Briefly speaking to media personnel at the civil court, the accused Mohammad, said that he was innocent and nothing to do with the murder. He said Naveed had shot himself with a pistol.

Mohammad requested the court that his embassy should be contacted to inform his family about his arrest.

Other foreign nationals who have been living in the Al-Amna Plaza as tenants have disappeared after the incident.

Shagufta said she was not responsible for Naveed’s death. She said she had an understanding with the deceased but they had no contact for some time.

A police source said that before the incident, Naveed dialed a telephone number from his cell phone which was attended by a woman. Police have obtained finger prints of Naveed and Mohammad and the pistol would be sent to forensic experts.
