KARACHI, Oct 27: NWFP, inspired by a devastating burst from skipper Umar Gul in the first innings, needed just three days to annihilate Balochistan by an innings and 236 runs in the Pentangular Cup match at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta on Monday.
Umar Gul, the Pakistan paceman, captured six for 39 as Balochistan folded up meekly for 93 after resuming at 66 for three in reply to NWFP’s massive total of 550 for five declared.
Asked to bat again, Balochistan fared marginally better in their second innings that ended at 221 with only Kamran Hussain (48), Saeed bin Nasir (47), skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (38) and Gulraiz Sadaf (31) making some sort of contributions.
Leg-spinner Yasir Shah conceded 96 runs in 21 overs, but he still managed to pick up four wickets. Left-arm pacer Junaid Khan followed his three for 27 in the first innings with figures of three for 42.
NWFP collected maximum nine points from their first match.
