MIANWALI, Oct 27: When it comes to proclaimed offenders, they are not the ones to spare even smugglers of wheat.
Reports said that two absconders Bashir alias Bashira and Murtaza Durrani along with their accomplice held hostage wheat smugglers at gunpoint and seized their 15 boats loaded with wheat on Sunday night at Sharifwali Pattan in Kutcha while crossing the Indus river.
The wheat was being smuggled to the NWFP through River Indus via Mochh Katcha. The POs earned Rs0.5 million after selling the wheat to commission agents of Isakhel rather at cheaper rates.
The police was informed about the incident, but the absconders managed to escape. Intriguingly, no one claimed the ownership of the wheat the price of which was no less than Rs1 million.
The police have set up their check posts on the national highways at Jinnah and Chashma barrages, but it is extremely difficult for them to cordon off the entire katcha area.
