DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Tribe frees nine policemen after fulfilment of ‘demands’

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 26: The policemen who were kidnapped by Shirani tribesmen from a checkpost in Frontier Region Darazinda on Saturday, were set free after the intervention of political administration on Sunday, officials said.

According to sources nine abducted policemen were released when authorities accepted three demands of Shirani tribe.

They were allegedly kidnapped by some members of Shirani tribe belonging to Frontier Region Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday when they stopped a vehicle loaded with flour at the checkpost. The kidnapped policemen included Draband police station SHO Apeal Khan, ASI Zaman Khan, constables Irfan, Munawar, Mohammad Majid, Wajib Ali, Mohammad Imran, Kafiatullah and Mohammad Umar.

The political administration with the cooperation of a local jirga succeeded in safe recovery of the policemen after accepting e demands of Shirani tribe.

Draband police registered FIR against the accused and sealed it.

KILLED: One person was killed and four others were injured in exchange of fire between two rival groups over a land dispute in Mandhra Kalan on the jurisdiction of Saddar police station on Sunday.
