KARACHI, Oct 25: Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) edged past Afghan FC 3-2 while Pakistan Steel and National Bank of Pakistan played a 2-2 draw in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches staged at separate venues of the city on Saturday.

At the Peoples Sports Complex, KESC was seen staging a recovery from being one down to finally win the match.

Afghan FC scored first through their winger Aminullah, who took advantage of the opening created for him by midfielder Jadeed Khan in the seventh minute to slot the ball past goalkeeper Mohammad Omar.

Damage control was carried out by KESC soon after, through their striker Abdul Ghafoor when he converted a long pass from winger Aurangzeb Shahmir to score in the 16th minute.

The 36th minute saw Aurangzeb getting one too for KESC to have his side lead by 2-1 at interval.

The second half saw Mohammad Hanif putting KESC in a solid position by scoring the third goal for them in the 71st minute. Although Afghan FC scored another goal in the 90th minute through their defender Abdul Ali, the match belonged to KESC.

The other match at Korangi Baloch Stadium saw Pakistan Steel’s Abdul Wahab stealing the show by helping his side level with the bankers.

The first goal was scored by Pakistan Steel through their winger Fazal Hussain, who converted midfielder Abdul Wahab’s pass in the initial moments of the match. But parity was restored soon after by NBP’s midfielder Jamil Ahmed in the 33rd minute followed by yet another by their other midfielder Mohammad Asif in the 40th minute. The score at interval was 2-1.

Steel leveled the match in the 66th minute through Wahab, who kicked in the ball after it had rebound off fellow fielder Mohammad Akram’s try.

Sunday’s fixtures: Pakistan Television v Navy at PSB Ground near Hamidi Hall, Islamabad; Khan Research Laboratories v Army at KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi. Matches kick off at 4.00pm.
