KHAIRPUR, Oct 24: Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that flour shortage, price hike and other such issues seem to have suddenly cropped up but actually they have link with the past few years.
He added that successive governments in the past had no vision and planning about people’s problems.
He was speaking as at a symposium organized by the department of Chemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission at Allama I.I. Kazi Hall of the university on Friday.
He said that water shortage was an international phenomenon and urged research scholars to conduct research on preservation and proper utilisation of water.
Referring to law and order situation, he said that bandits had modern weapons whereas police had old-fashioned weapons, which was one of the major reasons behind the problem.
He said that the coming National Finance Commission award would be based of new population census. He added that Sindh contributed major share in revenue of the country hence it should get its share accordingly.
He said that the subject of Sindhi language should be taught in all private and government institutions as the Sindh Assembly had passed a resolution to this effect.
Sindh had created great people like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and through their vision and struggle the province and the country are recognized at international level, he said.
Mr Khuhro said that the SALU and other universities were creating scholars, scientists, teachers and politicians of future.
Earlier, SALU Vice-Chancellor professor Dr Nilofer Shaikh highlighted the objectives of the symposium and expressed the hope that it would help students, teachers and researchers of chemistry.
Dr Mohammad Iqbal Bhangar, Dr Din Mohammad, Dr Shafiq Arain and others also spoke on the occasion.
