ATTOCK, Oct 24: A civil society organisation has asked the government to restore the 16 per cent general sales tax subsidy for all categories of electricity consumers and charge the domestic consumers using up to 600 units under the old tariff system.
It said low-grade Wapda employees and workers were feeling insecure because of attacks on their offices by angry consumers protesting against the unprecedented loadshedding and increase in power tariff.
Talking to this correspondent, president of Muttahida Mehnatkash Mahaz Rana Liaquat Ali Khan said electricity bills had increased to the extent that most of the consumers could not pay them without starving their families. —Correspondent
