KARACHI, Oct 23: A superb spell of pace bowling from Ijlal Mirza guided Beacon House Jubilee Campus into the semi-finals of the first KGA Ian Fyfe Memorial Twenty20 inter-school cricket tournament here at the KGA Ground on Thursday.
Ijlal captured four for 12 in three overs to help Beacon House bowl out Karachi Grammar School (KGS) for 87 to win the first quarter-final by 15 runs after KGS were set a modest target of 103.
Medium-pacer Asad Qamar (3-18) and off-spinner Adnan Yawar (3-20) also bowled splendidly as Beacon House defended their total.
Ali Masood was the only shining star for KGS with figures of three for 12 with his slow left-armers and a knock of 23. Wicket-keeper Mustafa Sardar also had fine game with five dismissals, including three stumpings.
Earlier, Abdul Rehman was the top-scorer for the Beacon House with 34 that included four boundaries.
Meanwhile, Foundation Public School (FPS) survived some anxious moments before clinching a thrilling one-wicket win over City School Darakhshan in the last preliminary round match on Wednesday.
Chasing 116, FPS lost nine wickets in achieving victory with just four deliveries to spare. Skipper Noyam Nasir, opening the innings, was their leading scorer with 27.
