PESHAWAR, Oct 22: The PCB and the NWFP government have agreed in principle over a drafted Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) prepared for handing over the Arbab Niaz Stadium to the former.
This was stated by Anwar Zeb Jan, Regional General Manager PCB for NWFP, after meeting NWFP Sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah here on Tuesday.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Sports NWFP Shahibzada Fazle Amin, Director Sports Iltaf Umerzai.
Anwar said the PCB-drafted MoU was handed over to the NWFP government a month ago and was also discussed in detail at the meeting. The reservations shown by the NWFP over the draft MoU were also discussed.
“We have given them a clear picture about the whole process and the initiative taken by the PCB for boosting the game in the province,” Anwar said.
“We went into the details to give a final shape and both were agreed in principle on the drafted MoU except some of them revised regarding the use of the said facility for the local cricketers,” he added.
Iltaf said the NWFP Academy, situated at the Arbab Niaz Stadium, will be the part and parcel of the NWFP government; moreover, the PCB will develop an additional venue that is Gymkhana ground for the local cricketers.
The PCB, he added, would upgrade the stadium in accordance with the international standards that include provision of all facilities under the ICC rules.—APP
