LAHORE, Oct 22: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday restrained the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) from disconnecting power supply to industrial units which had challenged increase in power tariff.

The court issued the interim injunction when Lesco chief executive Akram Arain appeared during the hearing of a contempt of court application filed by ICC Textile Mills and a number of other petitioners for issuing electricity bills in accordance with the new commercial tariff in violation of court orders and refusing to revise the same.

The court also directed the Lesco chief executive to submit written comments on the petition.

Imported wheat: Food Secretary Mohammad Irfan Elalhi said on Wednesday 75,654 tons imported wheat had arrived in Punjab. At a meeting held here to review the wheat and flour supply situation in Punjab and other provinces, Mr Elahi said the imported wheat was up to the required standard and the Food Department would also check the quality of other consignment. — Reporter
