Kidnapped doctor recovered, gang busted

SUKKUR, October 22: A doctor, who was kidnapped from his clinic by bandits a month ago, was recovered on Wednesday.

Giving details at a press conference, DPO Sharjeel Kharal, said that police arrested Mushtaq Ahmed Mirani from whom vital information regarding kidnapping of Dr. Vijay Kumar was extracted.

He had confessed during interrogation that the cellular phone recovered from him was the property of kidnapped doctor. A Kalashnikov rifle and a sizeable quantity of ammunition was also recovered from him, the DPO said.

Mushtaq Ahmed told police that his gang was carrying out its operations from a rented bungalow (i.e C-60 in street-7 of Hamdard Housing Society) and the rent was paid by his colleagues Elam Din Jagirani and Ghazi Khan Jagirani.

Dr. Vijay Kumar was brought after his kidnapping in the same bungalow and later shifted to the katcha area of Shah Belo, he said.

During grilling Mushtaq Mirani also provided some valuable clues. Dr Vijay was subsequently recovered from Shah Belo in a raid conducted on Wednesday.

The DPO said that police also arrested Elam Din alias Emmo and recovered a rifle from his possession.

In another development, police on Wednesday arrested Faheem alias Nasir Manganhar, Talib alias Rashid Mahar and Muneer Ahmed Jamali in connection with the armed robbery committed by them on October 20 in the Waritar area of Sukkur city.

They had snatched gold ornaments and mobile phone and other valuable from the women members of house belonging to Abdul Rasheed Baloch. These bandits were arrested following the police raid on the autaq of accused Qudratullah Shaikh in Shamsabad area in which looted ornaments and valuables were also recovered. Besides, two TT pistols and 11 cartridges were also recovered from them.
