JERUSALEM, Oct 22: An Israeli military plane crashed during a training flight on Wednesday, killing the two servicemen on board, the army said.

“A pilot instructor and an air force cadet were killed when their plane crashed in a training zone in the south of Israel,” an army spokesman said.

The spokesman said that the cause of the accident was still unknown.

Army radio said the two-seater Zukit plane involved has been used by the army for almost 50 years.

It was put into action as a combat aircraft during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war but is now used for training.

Last month, an Israeli military helicopter crashed near the northern town of Afula and burst into flames, killing the two-man crew.—AFP
